Defend Yourself--Be That ONE Small Voice:
Blog by Granpa Chuck
Many legal issues shared on this blog
from an ol' guy that knows that the only person you can depend
on is himself. He has experienced many a family situation; and
even went to Family Court a few times. However, noting will
surprise him. Noting, his favorite quote is “Knowing
is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.”

Best Interest of the
Child - The use of the best interests
doctrine represented a 20th century shift in public policy. The
best interests doctrine is an aspect of
parens patriae, and in the United States it has replaced
the
Tender Years Doctrine, which rested on the basis that
children are not resilient, and almost any change in a child's
living situation would be detrimental to their well-being.

Reasonable Efforts (PDF File)
-
"With the child's health and safety as
the paramount concern, the dependency court judge is required to rule
whether or not a child welfare agency has made reasonable efforts toward
preventing a child's removal from his home, reunifying the child and
family or achieving permanency for the child when reunification is not
an option. This issue of The Judges' Page seeks to address the
role of the judge in making these reasonable efforts findings."
