Who are You Going to Believe about the UN Ratification

Being one who likes to know ALL sides of any issue, I do subscribe to Varying Groups.. Big footnote: Just because I subscribe does NOT mean I am affiliated with said Groups.

Here is one of the statements in said email that makes me think. Why do we need additional Laws, if in the US we already have laws on the books that address this issue????
Other Post against the UN Ratification :

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Statement from email:
We need to make our voices loud and clear, because opponents are relaying their views to the Hill. They are opposing the measure on the inaccurate grounds that it “surrenders U.S. sovereignty” to the UN. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the CRPD is rooted in our own Americans with Disabilities Act and will not require the U.S. to change its own domestic laws.
Here is the rest of the email, in total:
Tell the Senate to Vote for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Dear Friends,
The end of the year is upon us, but before Congress finishes its business for 2012, we have a real opportunity to make a change.
Tomorrow, December 4, the Senate is expected to vote on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). This is a treaty that enshrines the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities in international law.
Thousands will call the Senate TODAY as part of a national effort to flood offices with messages that ratifying CRPD matters. Will you join them?
We need to make our voices loud and clear, because opponents are relaying their views to the Hill. They are opposing the measure on the inaccurate grounds that it “surrenders U.S. sovereignty” to the UN. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the CRPD is rooted in our own Americans with Disabilities Act and will not require the U.S. to change its own domestic laws.
Your voice matters. Call your Senators TODAY at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to support people with disabilities and ratify the CRPD! For those that live in Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, Texas, Utah, and Ohio, we especially need you to call. Click here for more information on what you can say.
Thank you for adding your voice,
